If you are into recycling and saving money you can easily hunt down scrap wood all around your town and area. I like to get scrap wood so I can build things like, tables, chairs, shelves, dog houses and even sheds and large storage bins. All you need to do is locate your local dump or transfer station and check out their “materials” pile. They can have some great wood finds that people just don’t think are valuable.
You can also find scrap wood in construction containers, just ask the owner of the container is they mind if you go through their container an take anything you want. You can get some large pieces of wood that way. And, another great way to get some scrap wood is on Craigslist.com. That site has everything, and lots of stuff for FREE.
If you are about to have a baby and you are searching for baby furniture such as a changing table and toy boxes and dressers and such you don’t have to spend a lot of money. I have used pieces of furniture that I already have as baby furniture and I have gone to second hand stores and found great pieces that were very cheap.
I have used an antique vanity as a changing table, it is beautiful and functional. I bought an antique dresser at a second hand store, painted it and it looks absolutely fabulous. You could find a potting table and paint it to match your baby room decor and use that as a changing table too. You don’t always have to spend a lot of money to have a great piece of furniture, and it’s fun to be creative too.
