Rick Ross - Hustlin’ and a little commentary on this new style of Hip Hop
Rick Ross is one of the rising stars of the southern rap world, courtesy of his hit track Hustlin’ Straight out of Dade County, Florida (or 305 if you link Ross to Miami) William Roberts is set to drop his first album this fall called Port of Miami under the label Slip-N-Slide/Def Jam.
My absolute favorite line from this track is the following…
““Who the fuck you think your fuckin with I’m the fuckin’ boss.. 7-4-5 white on white thats fuckin’ ROSS.”
Classic. You’ll hear that line and see the BMW 745, white on white in the video below.
Unfortunate all the current stuff streaming out of the south (Miami/Houston etc.) is a fairly bad implementation of the sound that Rick mastered in this track (Hip Hop Nation on Sirius satellite radio is a good example of overplay and general low quality most of the time) . Sure, there’s a few tracks here and their that almost get it right, but Hustlin’ is the perfect song for this up and rising new genre and style of Hip-Hop. Sure to mature like East and West coast rap, south Florida and Texas based artists will refine and get better as time passes giving the community yet another style to enjoy (I hope the same thing happens for the more crunk/northern-south rap that’s been around for a while)
/* I’m off to hustle.
